Significance of Molten Hydroxides With or Without Molten Carbonates in High-Temperature Electrochemical Devices

چکیده

Due to their low melting point and high conductivity molten hydroxides are interesting electrolytes, or additive other electrolytes for high-temperature electrochemical devices. There is nowadays a revival of such reactive media, first all significant role in the electrode mechanisms carbonate fuel cells (MCFCs) reverse co-electrolysis water carbon dioxide process, but also different applications, among which direct (DCFCs), hybrid carbonate/oxide cells. This overview shows properties interest use relevant energy devices, pointing out as electrolytic media key species complex kinetic processes. A thorough understanding behavior should allow improving optimizing significantly cells, electrolyzers, probably CO 2 capture valorization.
